What does a redirect checker do?
It requests a URL without following redirects automatically, records each hop's status code and Location header, and repeats until it reaches the final page.
What is the difference between 301 and 302?
301 and 308 are permanent redirects that pass ranking signals to the new URL. 302 and 307 are temporary and tell search engines to keep the original URL indexed.
How many redirects are too many?
Aim for a single hop. Google follows up to 10, but every extra hop adds latency and risks losing link equity. Chains of 3 or more should be flattened.
