JSON Formatter

Validate, beautify and minify JSON with exact error locations. Runs entirely in your browser — nothing you paste is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

How do I validate JSON online?

Paste your JSON into the box. The tool parses it instantly and tells you whether it is valid. If not, it shows the error message with the line and column where parsing failed.

What is the difference between formatting and minifying JSON?

Formatting (beautifying) adds indentation and line breaks so people can read it. Minifying removes all unnecessary whitespace to make the payload as small as possible for APIs and storage.

Is my JSON uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Your data never leaves your device, so it is safe to paste tokens, configs and API responses.

Why does my JSON say invalid?

The most common causes are trailing commas, single quotes instead of double quotes, unquoted keys, comments, and missing brackets. Strict JSON allows none of these.

What does sort keys do?

It alphabetically sorts the keys of every object, recursively. This makes two JSON documents easy to compare and produces stable output.
